Inn From The Cold

I

Inn From The Cold is an amazing program! How it works is 15-20 guests are picked up from the local Inn office. They are homeless people who got acceptation into the program. There are 20-50 churches depending on the city, every night that host the program. When the guests arrive at the host church they are greeted by the volunteers. I can only give the point of view from our church. Typically when the guests arrive we would have dinner ready for them. Once they were settled into their cots, which were separated by dividers, we would have them it down at the tables. Then we would pray and serve them dinner, they re our guests after all. After dinner coffee and desert were served. During that time people had a change to visit and enjoy fellowship. After that we would open up the clothing room where the guests could kind of shop with out having to spend any money! We had everything from toiletries, underwear, sox, pants, shirts, dresses, shoes and jackets. During this time they were also able to have a shower. While the night wound down we would put a movie on in the sanctuary, we had surround sound and a projector, so it was like they were at a movie theater. Typically during the movie we would be outside talking with the people who didn’t want the movie or who just felt like being outside. This was the best time out of the whole night. This was the time we got to know our guests, we got to know who they were and why they were in the situation they were in. Some of the regular guests we eventually considered them friends! Volunteering for this program is an absolute blast! If you have the opportunity to volunteer for them I highly recommend it! It’s typically held once a month at each hosting church. God bless have a wonderful day/night!

That’s a beautiful thing to do for the homeless. You make them feel like people again. God bless.

Thank you very much! That’s our objection, even ones we meet on the streets we treat the same way. Thank you so much and God bless you as well!
